An interesting Journey

Can I just say that today has been an interesting (but good) journey? I mean, you wanna talk about something being ' all over the map' emotionally, let me tell you about my day.

First I will start by saying that Biblically, the word says "Sin separates us from God", "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" and that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have ever lasting life." Basic foundations of our faith right? Absolute truths to who Christ is, was, and always be. But not to some that I met today!

Well this morning started with great time in the Word, studying a Marriage Without Regrets, by Precept. It just so happened to be a study on the battlefield in our minds, for how we treat each other, and what God calls us to. Then I had great worship in the car with Radio Shine blaring my favorites, as I headed to the bank, and Brakemasters to get our brakes evaluated.

Let's just say they saw me comin' a mile away. A week ago my husband called them to ask what a simple front break pad replacement would cost, and at $189, it seemed reasonable enough to let them do it. First, though, we needed them to look the truck over and make sure that it was all we needed done. I went alone, and went for a walk down to Kinko's while I waited. En route, I ended up walking side by side with Tzavi, a conservative Jew, that shared with me many views of Judaism and history that I didn't know, and soon found myself neck deep in Jewish theology (which I kept up with) and Jewish phrases and traditions (which he completely lost me in).  It was a freezing walk, as well.

Kinko's went fine, but then I got a phone call from the shop that they were done. They told me the caliper's needed to be replaced, the rotors needed to be replaced because they were warped, the the front pads needed to be replaced, the boots and shaft on the front axle were ripped and were direly in need of being replaced, for a grand total of $1300.  I left there nearly in tears, and ended up having another emotional shocker with my photography (that I won't go into), that jilted me, followed by taking the truck to the Toyota Dealership for a second opinion.

While I waited for them to finish, I met a young mom on the curb outside the grocery store who was waiting for her vehicle at Toyota, just as I was, and who was interested in my pictures, but was also LDS. We ended up in an hour long conversation about our beliefs, before our vehicles were done. It was very interesting and challenging to discuss our differences; seeing how distorted the scriptures were and how "added to" they were in LDS beliefs was shocking, and impossible to confront, because there was just enough truth in what she was saying to distort my 'problems' with their theology.  She was a really neat person, and we left on great terms...but I left drained!

The dealership then let me know that only my pads and shaft boots needed replacing; the rotors just needed resurfacing. Jesse can do that with parts for $150. Praise GOD!  It seems Brakemasters was out to take advantage of a young, naive woman who didn't know the first thing about cars. The dealership confirmed to me that it wasn't the first time someone had come through their doors citing over-the-top quotes from Brakemasters...

Emotional highs, lows, and spiritual challenges have been my day. I am so glad I have a God that is much bigger than all of it! But I thought I would share; it feels like I've traveled the world in 8 hours. Anyone else relate? Post a comment on the blog!
